Maiem. Sew ngapa. Welcome.

The Torres Strait Islanders’ Regional Education Council (TSIREC) is a unique organisation with a very special charter to represent the Torres Strait Nation's interests on education, training, and employment agendas.

For over 40 years, TSIREC has been the key community-based advocacy body, providing the essential link between Torres Strait communities and government.

Since 2000, we have worked as a key service provider with both State and Commonwealth Governments to ensure our communities are engaged in the reforming of government policy and practice in the Torres Strait.

Our Work

TSIREC’s Council of elected representatives is focused on community-based advocacy.

The Council is accountable to the Torres Strait Nation to engage with and represent individual communities on education, training and employment agendas. We work within communities and with local, State and Commonwealth Governments to influence strategic policy development and reform.
